From: Peter Birch > Is it possible to change tones within a patch via a sequencer? As the previous messages have stated, it is possible to change things within a patch. The easiest way to do this is to set the JV-1080 to transmit sysex when editing, and then record the changes. This can be evident when selecting (i'm not at home now but I think it is the 64 piano patch ) the 64 piano patch and notice that the first two tone lights are on. This indicates that this patch is using the first 2 tones. Set the sequencer to record and press tone switch 1 (12 bytes will be recorded) then press tone 3 (12 more bytes will be recorded) Stop the sequencer. What you have done is turned off tone 1 and turned on tone 3. Turn the patch to the next one and then return to 64 piano - this will ensure that it is back to the original. Now play the sequence and the tones will change. magic. Now the question is: If most people are playing the JV in Performance mode - wouldn't it be great to change those tones within patches on the fly (in any patch). I haven't found out how to do this. This would allow an unlimited number of things to occur - for instance in the above example, if tone 3 was strings then when playing tones 1&2 it could be a strong piano then 'poof!' piano and strings without using another track. Can this be done? [and the answer came quickly] From B.Vogelaar@stm.tudelft.nl(Bas Vogelaar) Yep! In Performance mode, keep depressed and press simultaneously. You are now in 'Performance Patch mode'. With the cursor keys you can select any of 16 Patches you assigned to the Parformance and edit them in the same way as in normal Patch mode. You can also save the entire Performance, including the Patches you did or did not edit, by SysEx, using [Sound] [Xfer].
