FROM : michelle@sun.tir.com (michelle) >I am particularly interested in being able to send >performance data from >my PC sequencer to the JV1080. You mean like the songs people do here, with a performance dump in the beginning ? or just to save data from the JV to make a library ? >I thought it would be a good idea to try to upload one patch to my PC and then dump one from the PC to the computer. How do I do this. First not all sequencer software record sysex in real time, the others have a sysex utility built-in, thats depends on what sequencer you have for explanations. Lets say you have Cubase: 1- prepare the JV to dump a patch UTILITY/BULK DUMP 2- choose for source TEMP : PATCH 3- on the sequencer press record (with no automatic quantize) 4- immediatly press "enter" on the JV 5- stop the record function when the JV says "complete" 6- save the Cubase (or else) file as usual If you want to make a song with a performance dump in the beginning this is almost the same as above except for "2- choose for source TEMP : PERFORMANCE" instead. When your song is finished and your performance patch is to your liking, just select all the parts (tracks) and push them 4-5 bars away (depending on the tempo) to leave an empty space before the song in order to record the dump in the beginning, be sure to let the dump finish "playing before the song starts. In Cakewalk its quite different you'll have to use the sysex utility to save the performance and set it to "auto". But there is surely Cakewalk expert here to explain further. If you are on Windows and just want to make patches libraries there's a very useful JV 1810 and XP 50 Librarian/Editor demo called JV 1080 manager from a user on this list in Italy, thats what I use to manage banks and saving dumps from my JV, I like it very much and its ""free"", thanks to Marco Stella ! http://www2.stack.urc.tue.nl/~stevin/xp50/jv1080manager.html Good luck ============================================== R O B E R T G I L B E R T Montreal, Quebec, Canada ORIGINAL Composition * JV/XP Songs http://www.infobahnos.com/~winbob/bob/musique/jv1080.htm ==============================================
